A 2nd Christmas

A family friend hosts us every Christmas day. This year, her adult son was out of the country working through the holidays. Today we are going to celebrate a second Christmas with him. It’s a day of drinking mimosas and playing a gift exchange game.

President Trump has resurrected the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines. I’m frustrated. It takes so much collective energy to overcome anything in the fossil fuel industry’s interests. Now, with Trump in office, it feels impossible. I’m reaching deep down to find the energy and determination to fight for what is right.

It feels like the first step is paying attention. It’s natural to tune out and let the government do whatever it’s doing for four years. My goal is to participate. I signed petitions online with NRDC. I’m going to send postcards to my congressional representative and senators.
